Our New Collection – The Fabrics and Artisans continued...

CORE ORGANIC ECRU and INDIGO ‘DENIM - CHAMBRAY’, PEDAL LOOM, JOLOB.

This is the first time we partner with Jolob, led by Alberto Gómez.  He has quite a team up in the mountains of San Andrés Larrainzar, who focus on the simpler of the pedal loom fabrics, albeit entirely handmade.  With Alberto we are teaming up to produce a series of artisanal core fabrics that we will keep running from one collection to the next and elevated with special details and embroideries.

Our Core Organic Ecru is made entirely from the exclusive regenerative and organic cotton that is grown across Chiapas, Oaxaca and Chihuahua by Julio Dominguez (our long term supplier) and his vast network of farmers.  It is woven with the same texture and lightness as our beloved Marla shirt fabric.
Our Indigo ‘Denim-Chambray’ was a successful experiment by mixing different tones of blue in the weft (horizontal) and ecru to achieve our own classic.  Lighter than Denim, some cool handcraft kinks, but the same enduring look.

ZIG ZAG BROCADE GAUZE SHAWL / WRAP, BACKSTRAP LOOM, ÁNGELA DEL CARMEN.

Well, this fabric is something else– a brocaded gauze.  I already shared a video clip with you of the unravel, but really this deserves its very own newsletter and/or blog post.  Meanwhile, you can see a little reel of my day-trip to visit Ángela at her home in Paraíso de Grijalva in Venustiano Carranza, Chiapas.
